Unfortunately irrespective of how horrible struggle is…..it seems to be something that is at all times occurring….maybe the long run will work out the way to stop that from taking place. Of the movies you mention, I’ve seen almost half, and lots of are classics. Particular favourites include ‘Battle of Britain’, and ‘The Great Escape’. And I must confess to liking ‘The Sound of Music’ (despite all those annoyingly nice children). As it happens, maybe my favourite of all is the one you say you haven’t but seen – ‘Downfall’. I’ve seen it a number of instances only recently; it is the only foreign language film on my high a hundred list and it is rising up with every viewing. I’ll probably put it in the top 30 subsequent time I amend the list. It’s an important research of mental anguish, dilemma and despair. Certainly I’d say watch that movie. It’s tremendous.

Well, you understand Hollywood: Imitation is the sincerest type of easy money. An complete genre has emerged, and comedies about previous guys getting together for one zany reason or one other have become standard fare. The Maiden Heist (2009). Stand Up Guys (2012). The whole Expendables franchise, for that matter. Morgan Freeman has made a cottage industry out of these items in geezer pleasers similar to The Bucket List (2007), Thick as Thieves (2009), Red (2010), Last Vegas (2013) and now this useless-from-the-neck-up retread.
